The Answer To A Prayer...Welcome to Devon

I am now in employment and my prayer has been answered, the road has not been easy but perseverance and patience has paid off. Now I can confidently say I came, I saw and I conquered. But this is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting professional life and an even brighter future for me. As the "cliché" goes the sky is the limit or as Kanye West so readily put in one of his songs, its now time for me to fly into NASA. I have big dreams, bigger than anything I have ever done before and I will work as hard, travel as far, climb as high and believe as never before to turn them into reality. Don't we all just want to talk about our dreams, well that will be a post for another day.

It now the third week of my new job and I have to admit that it has been a whole new experience. It has been a while since I was in a formal job setting and I am enjoying every aspect of it. I have joined the company at an exciting time as it is going through an expansion phase and the future looks bright (forgive me for over using this term, I promise that is the last you will hear me mention anything about a bright future, well dazzling seems much better I think. Every single person I have met has been quite friendly and gone out of their way to help me settle in.Its good that the engineering department has been undergoing some changes which has resulted in a couple of new faces joining the team. This means that I am not the only new person to join the company and so makes it so much easier to settle in because I have other people who are in the same boat( I do need to deepen my vocabulary).

I have moved to a new town and leaving Aberdeen, a city I have called home for the past 4 years has not been easy. I still have so many goodbyes to be had, so many people to bid farewell but I do not do goodbyes too well. I will however carry with me the good memories, learn from the bad ones and keep close the good friends I have made. As my life philosophy goes I take it there is a bigger reason why I had to make this move and I will make the most of the chance that I have. Barnstaple is a small town but there seems to be quite a lot of outdoor activities to partake in. Its closeness to the sea and beautiful countryside makes it even more appealing now that its approaching summer time, the days are brighter and longer and there is every reason to stay outside.

I have had an opportunity to scope out the city, going out into town a couple of weekends ago just to get a feel of the place. I also have had a chance to get a couple of beers with a friend from work and checking out the pubs and I got to admit they got a good feel to them. The exploration continues at the weekend as we plan to go and check out one of the two night clubs in town. This is quite good for me as I need to see if I can get myself into there as a DJ as I want to keep that hobby of mine alive.

I know this post is so all over the place and promise the next one is going to be a little bit more structured. I have not been writing for a little while now and so I have got too much material in my head which I need to put down on paper. I have included a couple of pictures of Barnstaple so that you get a feel of the place and look at it through my eyes. New photos will be coming soon when I get a bit more settled into a permanent home.

I will try and not keep you waiting too long for the next instalment in my Devon chronicles and till then, as I have always done, I will leave you with a few words of wisdom. "Think what could be and not what can't"
