Consistent, Persistent, Resilient....

Last week I promised I was going to update my blog on a weekly basis and for once in a very long time I am going to be true to my word. I have been finding it difficult to make plans and stick to them, in other words consistency has been eluding me but now I have just realised there is no better time to start than today. That said I am on a path to consistency, persistence and resilience, all three I need to overcome challenges that I face on a daily basis in this struggle for survival in this capitalist world. I know I sometimes come across as bitter or unhappy but the truth is that I do not believe in Capitalism even though I am unfortunate to be living within such a system, if I had things in my hands I would advocate for equitable distribution of wealth but will leave my political views and ambitions for another time.

Ok this week's blog is just going to follow last week's format where I am just going to give an update of the highlights of the week gone past. Do not know if I mentioned the Open day at a certain pharmaceutical company I attended last week, I'm sure I did. I have followed that up by submitting my CV and cover letter and so I am now waiting for a telephone interview, good thing is that I have a Mock telephone interview this coming Wednesday by the guys from the same firm and that should get me prepared for the real thing. In the same breathe I have to admit it is getting quite frustrating getting my applications ready because all the big companies are saying we are unable to accept applications from non UK/EU students and to say the least this is just becoming so annoying and I have already started looking at a contingency plan because I have come too far to fall back on a non engineering job and I am prepared to move to Aussie or New Zealand if a good job is not forthcoming in this country.

Moving onto the social scene, last Friday was Halloween and though I was working I finished work early and decided to go out for a couple of drinks, even though I do not believe in the occasion and all (if you ask me I will probably just say it's another aspect of the Capitalist and Consumerised time we live in) any way it was a good night out, catching up with friends and just having a good time. Kanye West has a concert in Glasgow on the 16th of November and a bunch of friends are going over but I am yet to make up my mind whether to get myself a ticket or not, it will be a good drive down to Glasgow and I know I will enjoy it but it seems I cannot convince any of my close friends to make the trip and I wouldn't want to drive down alone so not sure if I will go.

Nothing has come out of the Zimbabwean negotiations yet and it really hurts me to see the country going down to the dogs like that. My personal take on the whole situation is that its just a bunch of selfish individuals who are holding the whole nation at ransom. I really don't care what they say about being committed to the Sovereignty of the country and all when the very people they purport to represent are dying of starvation and yet no one seems concerned at all. Still on the topic of Africa's political mess there arises the situation in the Congo, an ever volatile region of the beloved Motherland where ethnic tension flies as high as a kite and all it takes is just one rebel group pretending to be representing the interests of the "people" to take up arms and spark off yet another wave of violence. It is quite unfortunate that Africa is riddled with all these wars, famines and conflicts which leave the people never the wiser to how powerful the continent can be if we just pull in the same direction. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I truly believe there is a Western behind all the disturbances in Africa, I call it divide and conquer, there you are hacking off one another to death, too pre occupied to realise what you are worth and will forever be in need of aid when more than half the world's precious minerals are there for us to benefit from.

I guess that is enough ranting for one week, as customary I love you and leave you with a quote of the week."Happiness is not about what you have but being grateful of the life you are living" Anonymous
